Crabs are not only tasty but are rich in protein, minerals and vitamins. Many of my friends who love eating crabs at the restaurants, don't know how to clean and cook the crabs. So watch this video for easy cleaning.

These are male crabs. The females crab apron is wider and more oval in shape. Those who go for fishing, should throw back the female crabs in the sea for population because they contain lots of eggs.

This is an easy and fast method of cleaning. Give the crabs a thorough cleaning to make sure you have rinsed all the yuck off.

CLEANING CRABS BEFORE COOKING:

Prep time: 10 minutes for beginners

Recipe Type: Scrumptious Seafood

Cuisine: Indian

Serves: 6

Ingredients:

3 fresh crabs bought from Seafood market.

Method:

Fold back the tail flap and discard.

Twist off the sharp ends of claws. Break large claw joint.

With knife open the body and pull the top shell away from its body and discard.

Remove spongy gills from both sides.

Cut the crab along its centre.

Remove the greenish-brown guts and discard

Rinse the crab well under running tap water or a hose.

Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and some water and immerse the crabs for 5 minutes.

Drain the water and crabs are ready for cooking.
